Networked PDU with 8 switchable outlets including remote environmental monitoring functions

This fully SNMP-compliant PDU (power distribution unit) from manufacturer Didactum is used for power control of server devices in racks and server cabinets. In addition to 8 switchable C13 current outputs, this Ethernet-based power strip provides the user with important functions for physical environmental monitoring. In combination with the optionally available GSM modem, individual or all sockets can be switched via the SMS command in the context of the out of band management.

Typical applications of this switchable PDU 750 include:

  • Control of the current / voltage distribution in IT rack
  • Turning on and off systems via TCP / IP network or Web
  • SNMP-based (Simple Network Management Protcol) power distribution in engineering, server rooms and data centers
  • Environmental monitoring within IT infrastructure monitoring

Use LAN or WAN to remotely switch on or off up to 8 connected server devices, or use this intelligent PDU to reboot e.g. no longer reacting servers. Using the mulitlingual web interface with integrated logics, you can easily manage this PDU.

Each of the 8 switched current outputs (C13) can be individually configured in the WebGUI. In the integrated logics of this PDU, you can set the required automatic actions. Thus, individual or even all current plugs can be switched in interaction with the connected SNMP-enabled sensors (temperature sensor, DC sensor, AC voltage sensor, smoke sensor etc.). If the water leakage sensor detects a water damage, you can specify in the PDU's logic that the current supply to connected systems is immediately interrupted. In the context of Green IT, the power supply of individual server systems, which are currently not needed, can be selectively switched off.

Switchable PDU including IT infrastructure monitoring

The networked PDU 750 offers, in addition to 8 switchable C13 power connectors, 2 additional ports for Didactum`s IP-based intelligent sensors. Here you can attach the precise temperature sensor for 7/24 environmental monitoring of your server room. Didactum`s comprehensive range of sensors offers different IP sensors. These intelligent sensors and connected via plug and play to the switchable PDU 750 and automatically detected. You can set up to 5 individual thresholds for each connected sensor. Then you can easily define the required notifications and alerts.

The PDU 750 provides you and your company with notifications and alerts such as:

  • E-mail notifications to up to 8 different recipients
  • SMS messages (3rd party gateway or optional GSM modem required)
  • SNMP traps to monitoring software or network management systems (including Nagios XI, HP OpenView, Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold, Zabbix, etc.)
  • SNMP trap receiver functions such as SNMPset or SNMPget
  • Actuator functions such as switching on or off of the 8 built-in current connectors or switching of the two 12VDC signal outputs

I/O ports for SNMP-enabled dry contact monitoring

The SNMPv1-, SNMPv2c- and SNMPv3- enabled PDU 750 provides 2 dry contact inputs. Connect here fault indicators of your exisiting fire alarm or fire extinguishing system, your air conditioning or cooling system, your emergency power supply unit or your UPS system. So you integrate important systems of building technology into the networked 7x24 monitoring of the intelligent PDU 750. Two 12VDC outputs enable the automatic switching of connected alarm systems or the forwarding of important alarm messages to building monitoring. The built-in logic of the PDU 750 allows the user to easily create automatic actions and rules. In addition, time filter and trigger functions are offered by this intelligent PDU.

CAN port for up to 8 CAN sensors or CAN expansion units

The PDU 750 also provides a connection for Didactum`s SNMP-enabled digital CAN sensors and CAN expansion units. Simply connect additional sensors for non-stop environmental or security monitoring. In addition to combined multi sensors, the manufacturer Didactum also offers CAN-based dry contact units and sensor expansion units. This allows you to intensify your IT infrastructure monitoring. Up to 8 digital CAN sensors or CAN units can be connected to the PDU 750. The maximum length of the serial RJ-12 cabling can be up to 305 meters (1000 ft).

Integration of the switchable PDU into SNMP tools or Network Management Software (NMS)

The PDU 750 supports the SNMP v1, v2c and v3 (Simple Network Management Protocol). MIB files for SNMP-compatible SCADA solutions and network management systems (including Nagios XI,  OpenNMS, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, WhatsUp Gold, Zabbix, etc.) are included with this switchable PDU. SNMPset and SNMPget commands are also supported.

Didactum temperature sensor - Temperature monitoring of sensitive infrastructures

Measure and monitor this important environmental factor in your temperature sensitive infrastructure. Make sure that a sudden temperature does not affect your mission critical infrastructure. A permanent temperature recording is important in the context of compliance. It is also suitable for audits.

Typical applications of the Didactum temperature sensor:

  • Temperature monitoring of mission-crtitical infrastructure
  • Long-term measurement of the temperature in warehouses, depots and archives
  • Temperature monitoring of enclosures and server cabinets

Easy installation

The temperature sensor is easily connected via RJ11 patchcable to the Didactum monitoring system and automatically displayed on it`s WEB GUI. As part of the temperature monitoring, you can easily query this sensor via Network or Internet.

The temp sensor can be located up to 100 meters from the Didactum monitoring devices by using your own RJ-11 cable. Each sensor can be configured in the web interface of the Didactum monitoring system individually. Specify the individual limit and warning values of each sensor! Get reliably informed by e-mail or SNMP traps.

GSM Modem Modul - OPTIONAL

Equip your network-enabled Didactum Monitoring System with this internal GSM modem. Receive in the event of a network failure important status messages or alarms directly on your mobile phone / smartphone. The monitoring unit also supports remote SMS commands. Thanks to integrated macro functions of SNMP-enabled monitoring device, the content of the SMS alert can be individually customized.
